Domaine Faiveley: Great Burgundy wines in Nuits-Saint-Georges since 1825

1er Cru "Les Saint-Georges"

‘Les Saint-Georges’ is considered to be one of the most ancient plots of vines, already planted in the year 1000. At the end of the nineteenth century, the village of
‘Nuits’ was given the authorisation to add the famous ‘Saint-Georges’ cru to its name.

The hand-picked harvest goes through a short prefermentary maceration before being vinified.  For the duration of the 18-20 day vatting period, the wine is kept at low temperature.
It is then matured in oak barrels for 14 to 16 months, in nineteenth century vaulted cellars which provide ideal conditions for raising wines.  The proportion of new oak, which is susceptible to variations according to the vintage, represents on average two thirds of the cuvée.  The barrels come from high-quality barrel makers and have been rigorously selected for their fine grain and light toast.

Our Tasting Notes:

A very beautiful dark ruby colour.  The powerful nose has hot spice and ripe fruit notes.  The bold and round attack is followed by a balanced palate with supple and generous tannins.
The harmony and elegance of this wine do credit to this well-known Premier Cru.

A beautiful scarlet red colour for this Nuits-Saint-Georges 2008. The nose is full of finesse, opening up with spicy notes which blend with very ripe fruit aromas.   This wine is full, round and well-balanced on the palate.  Its very rich aromas are counterbalanced by a beautiful sense of tension.   The supple tannins stretch out elegantly right up to the finish.
